Classic value investing metrics plus analytics developed for mining stocks.

Our value metrics are presented in three tabs in the datagrid, with 5-7 metrics each. The Financial Strength and Profitability metrics are derived from financial statement data, and the Price-to-Ore Ratios employ resource and reserve data. The latter are arguably the most important criteria for evaluating an investment in mining stocks.

The Profitability Metrics tab is for producers with revenue from mines, as it shows measures of profitability such as earnings, margins, ROE, PE, and our own Relative Cash Flow and Enterprise Value / Revenue.

Our Profitability Metrics:
  • Enterprise Value / Revenue (Unique to this website)

Indicates how expensive stocks are relative to revenue, taking account of cash and debt on the balance sheet. Lower is better, all else being equal.
  • Relative Cash Flow (Unique to this website)

Defined as Enterprise Value / Cash Flow from Operations. Indicates how expensive shares are relative to operating cash flow, taking account of cash and debt. Adjusted for negative vs positive cash flow (smaller relative losses are better than larger, and larger relative gains are better than smaller).
  • Earnings per Share

    Net Earnings / Shares Outstanding
  • P/E Ratio: Share Price / Earnings per Share

How expensive are the shares relative to earnings? Lower is better, all else being equal.
  • Return on Equity: Net Income / Average Shareholder's Equity

Standard measure of profitability; higher is better.
  • Net Profit Margin: Net Income / Revenue

Standard measure of profitability; higher is better.
  • Dividends: Latest Annual Dividends

Standard measure of profitability; higher is better.
  • Dividend Yields: Dividends / Share Price

Standard measure of profitability; higher is better.
